Review by hotel critic
As a marine biologist from Nassau, I had high hopes for my recent stay at Golfo, given its reputation as a family-friendly retreat. Initially, the bustling atmosphere was off-putting. The restaurant was particularly noisy, with children running around, and the food was underwhelming-tiny portions and a long wait just to nab some leaves of salad. As we settled in, things improved. Arriving later for meals helped us dodge the chaos, and the food started tasting better with more variety. Kudos to the reception staff, who, despite the throngs of guests, helped us secure much-needed sun chairs-a must given the limited beach space. The bungalows themselves were basic but functional. They come equipped with air conditioning, though it's either on or off with no temperature control. We had extra space since we booked for four, which was handy, and we appreciated the outdoor dining area for meals. On the downside, the wifi was unimpressive and often non-existent. Golfo offers a budget feel with some value for families. If you're looking for luxury, this might not be the place, but for the price and amenities like beach access, you could do worse.
